ليالً عشرٍ .

الفجرُ وتِلكَ ليالٍ عشر ★ يَتبعُها الشفعُ مع الوَتر
فسّر ربُ الكون مَداها ★ فضلٌ زاد بفيضِ الذِكر
من دُونُ العامِ تَجَليها ★ أنجُمُها في كبَدِ الشَهر
في الأربعِ معدودةُ حُرُما ★ تَقعُ بقلبِ الإثنَى عَشْر
مَن قام لِيتلو ويُصَلى ★ من فاضَ يطوفُ وبالنَحْر
والجودُ يؤدَى مِن بَشَرٍ ★ والنفسُ ازدانتْ بالبِشْر
قسمٌ للهِ لِمنْ يَنسي ★ ولِمَن زاغَ وسَكنَ الحِجْر
انظر أثَرَ الإرمِ وعادٍ ★ وثمودُ وعُبادُ الصَخر
هل فِرعونُ أفادَ عتاداً ★ عِند الغَرقِ وحينَ أقَر
سوطُ الله أتَى مِرصاداً ★ فَتهاوىَ صَرحٌ بالجِذر
تلكَ السُنَنُ هوَ مُجريها ★ تتَواردُ بِسُطورِ الذِكر
قد يَبلىِ الإنسانَ بلاءاً ★ فيذوقَ مِن الكأسِ المُر
فيقولُ إلهيَّ أخْزاني ★ إذّ مُنعَ مِن الرزقِ بِقَدْر
ويتِيهَ ويَزهو خُيلاءاً ★ لو فازَ بكرمٍ فى الظَفْر
مانحنُ و ما جئ بعَملٍ ★ لنعيشَ فَنأمنَ مِن مكر
مَنْ مِنّا يُطعمُ مِسكيناً ★ ويَتيماً يَربُتُ بالشَعر
كم فينا لملمَ بتُراثٍ ★ كم جَمعَ من المالِ بوِزْر
وتَناسىَ اللهَ متىَ يَقضي ★ فَيفيقُ وقد شَتّ الفِكْر
يتمنىَ أن يَرجِعَ يوماً ★ يُبدِلُ فيه سُنونَ العُمر
صار إليهِ الندمُ سبيلاً ★ والقدمُ يغوصُ إلى قبر
ما كان لِواقعِ تَبديلاً ★ لا ترجو إذّ قُضىَ الأمر
فالنارُ تُناديكَ خليلاً ★ كيف تزوغُ وأينَ تَفِر ؟؟
والجنةُ تهديكَ دليلاً ★ يَمضي بصراطِكَ لِتَمُر
لتفوزَ بأمنٍ وأمانٍ ★ وجنانٍ تُشرِحُكَ الصَدر
فاعملْ إذ شِئتَ لميزانٍ ★ وألزَمْ حَدّ اللهِ بِصَبٔر

Welton Flynn. Flynn is best known for his key leadership at the SF Public Utilities Commission and as the inaugural chairman of the SFMTA Board of Directors. Mr. Flynn was the first African American appointed to a city commission and served the longest term of any commissioner in San Francisco’s history.
